2024 marked a milestone year for Chery, with the Chinese automaker achieving record-breaking global sales over the past twelve months. Chery reported sales of 2,603,916 vehicles globally, reflecting a 38.4% increase that surpassed its annual target and outpaced the industry’s growth rate by 10-20 percentage points.

Locally, Chery experienced an outstanding year. In December, the automaker sold 1,867 vehicles, led by the Tiggo 4 Pro with 1,059 units. It was followed by the Tiggo 7 Pro (432), Tiggo 8 Pro (225), and Tiggo Cross (151). This performance follows November 2024’s record-breaking 2,006 sales, Chery’s highest monthly total in South Africa to date.

"2024 has been a standout year for Chery, with consistent growth and remarkable milestones achieved,” commented Jay Jay Botes, General Manager for Chery South Africa.

“Closing the year with strong December sales—and setting a new local record in November—highlights South Africans' trust and enthusiasm for our brand. This success underscores our commitment to delivering vehicles that meet the needs and preferences of this dynamic audience,” added Botes.

With 1,144,588 exported units—a 21.4% increase—Chery has retained its position as China’s top passenger vehicle exporter for an impressive 22 consecutive years.

The automaker’s commitment to electrified vehicles is evident in strong global sales. NEV sales reached 583,599 units, a 232.7% increase—the fastest growth among major automakers. In December alone, global PHEV sales exceeded 100,000 units, marking a 31.9% month-on-month rise.

2024 was also a year of significant milestones for Chery, including producing its 15 millionth vehicle and exporting the one-millionth Tiggo 7 to international markets.

In South Africa, Chery’s strong sales momentum was complemented by a prestigious accolade. At the Top Gear South Africa 2024 awards, the Tiggo 4 Pro DCT was named the Most Improved Car of the Year. Featuring a smooth and efficient dual-clutch transmission, the Tiggo 4 Pro DCT enhances the lineup, which also offers manual and CVT options to suit customer preferences.

The automaker has garnered significant recognition on the global stage, earning several prestigious awards. In Brazil, the Tiggo 7 range was crowned the "2024 Best Midsize SUV to Buy." Meanwhile, in Egypt, the Tiggo 8 claimed the "Best Chinese Performance and Luxury Car Award," and the Tiggo 4 secured the "Best-Selling SUV-C" title. In Malaysia, the Tiggo 8 was recognised as the "Best Medium SUV," while in Saudi Arabia, the Tiggo 7 Pro Max received the "2024 National Automobile Award Best Crossover (SUV)."
